Sometimes I go in search of stories and sometimes they go in search of me. Sometimes...they even pay a visit to my back porch.
While I was watering the plants on our back porch, just before sunset, I spotted a small green leaf on the railing. Being in a mood to tidy-up, I walked over to it. That’s when I got a surprise. It wasn’t a stray leaf - it was a Katydid, most likely a Broadwinged Katydid, Microcentrum rhombifolium (also known as Greater Angle-wing Katydid). And she was waiting for the evening serenade to begin.
Noodles And Wonton Skins Recalled for Salmonella Risk
Good Taste Noodle MFG. of Chicago, IL, is recalling its "EGG NOODLES and WONTON SKINS, labeled with production date from June 19, 2010 to August 19, 2010", because they have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune system.
Hart Football Team Faces Tough Challenge In El Camino Real
The high school football season opens tonight with four teams from the Foothill League in action.
Hart plays El Camino Real at Birmingham High School. Hart will be relying on a veteran defense to stop a strong El Camino running game. Senior defensive end Justyn Eddins and senior linebacker John Cornelius lead an experienced defensive unit. Cornelius led the team with 10.2 tackles per game last season. Eddins led the team in sacks with six.
El Camino Real beat Hart last year, 33-28, As a sophomore, running back Kawan Rally rushed for 84 yards and three touchdowns for El Camino in the game against Hart.
Power Outage Near Highlands Elementary In Saugus
Updated 3:30 p.m.
All power has now been restored to the Saugus area affected by a Thursday morning underground failure.
Traffic signals were out for most of the day at Bouquet Canyon Road near Central Park and Highlands Elementary School were given an unexpected day off when they were without power.
Rodriguez Gets Death Sentence For Child Murder
Convicted killer Antonio Rodriguez was given the death sentence by a Superior Court judge Thursday for sexually assaulting and beating to death his girlfriend's 5-year-old daughter.
Rodriguez, 29, was convicted in July of several charges, including murder, torture and sexual penetration with a foreign object.
